Jesus is not only the King, He’s the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. That means that He’s the ultimate authority and you can rely on Him in a way that you could never rely on anything or anyone else.
The idea of what a king is can be pretty foreign to us, especially if you live in a country that doesn’t have a king (or he doesn’t have that much responsibility). Many countries have a president or a prime minister, but Jesus isn’t our president, we didn’t elect Him, He is God. And we owe Him our allegiance first and foremost. We are to submit to His rule and authority, and not just on the day that we go to church! Jesus is Lord of All, which means that we should give him our whole lives. But we shouldn’t just submit to Him because He deserves it (which He totally does!) but because He knows each and every one of us and He loves us and knows what’s best for us.
Bible Verses:
- Revelation 17:14 | Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:10 | Jesus died for us, so we can live with Him!
- 1 John 5:3 | Submit to God’s plans for you.
- Romans 8:28 | A life lived God’s way is the best life ever!
- Jeremiah 29:11 | Hope in God and you won’t be disappointed.
Family Time Questions:
• What are some differences between Jesus and our earthly leaders?
• What does it look like to submit to Jesus?
• Why should we follow Jesus as our King?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for being the ultimate authority and for knowing me and loving me. Help me to honor you with my life and to fully submit to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
