Whether we are feeling good or bad, happy or sad, we need to make sure that we keep our eyes on Jesus. Satan is looking for any opportunity to lead you away from God. If you are sad, he wants you to feel hopeless. If you are excited, he wants you to lose all self-control. If you are scared, he wants you to lose all hope. If you are feeling victorious, he wants you to be unkind. Satan can use big events like elections as an opportunity to make people, whether they are feeling good or bad about the results, turn their focus toward earthly problems. Instead of focusing on earthly problems and looking for earthly saviors, let’s put our hope and our trust in our only Savior, Jesus Christ. No matter what happens, Jesus is our only hope.

Bible Verses:

  • Isaiah 43:11 – No Savior but God
  • 1 Peter 5:8 – Be Sober-Minded and Watchful
  • Psalm 62:1-2 – God Is Our Fortress
  • Psalm 34:17-18 – God Is Near to the Brokenhearted
  • Philippians 3:19-20 – Our Citizenship Is in Heaven

Family Time Questions:

  • What does Satan want for you?
  • What does God want for you?
  • What does it mean that there is no Savior besides God?
  • Why is it so important to fix our eyes on Jesus?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for being our Savior. And whether we are happy or sad, please help us to be sober-minded and watchful. Help us to put our hope and our trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
