The way that the world loves is not the way that God loves. On Valentine’s Day, we often see stories about love in movies or tv shows. But those stories so often tell of a love that is wishy-washy and uncommitted. That’s not at all what God’s love for you is like. He loves you no matter what. He’ll never get bored of you or tired of you. He wants you and loves you forever. And though our sin separates us from God (by our own choice), He still made a way for us to be with Him forever. Jesus Christ died for you, not because you deserve it but because He loves you anyway. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His steadfast love endures forever!
Bible Verses:
- Psalm 136 – His love endures forever
- Luke 15:11–32 – The prodigal son
- Romans 3:38-39 – Nothing can separate you from God’s love
- Romans 5:6-8 – Christ died for the ungodly
Family Time Questions:
- Why is Valentine’s Day a good day to talk about love?
- What is God’s love for you like?
- How is that different from how the world often loves?
- What are some ways that we can love others the way God loves us?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for always loving us. Please help us to share your love with everyone we meet. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
