Almost everyone knows that it’s important to do the right thing. But did you know that there is a way to do the right thing the wrong way? God wants us to do what’s right, but also to do what’s right for the right reasons and with the right attitude. If you obey your parents, but you obey with a bad attitude, that’s not what God wants for you. God cares about your heart, He cares about what’s on the inside. We should honor God with our words and actions, but especially with our hearts.

Bible Verses About Having a Good Attitude:

  • Matthew 23:23-28 | Be clean on the inside
  • Isaiah 29:13 | Honor God with your hearts
  • Proverbs 21:2 | “The Lord weighs the heart”
  • Psalm 51:10 | Prayer for a clean heart

Family Time Questions About Having a Good Attitude:

• What’s an example of doing the right thing with the wrong attitude?

• What’s an example of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons?

• Why does God care so much about what’s on the inside?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for knowing my heart. Help me to do what is right, and to do it with an attitude that honors you. And as Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
