Are you holding on to any “treasures” in your life that are actually just garbage? Douglas’ mom threw something of his away that he wanted to save… that is until she explained why he couldn’t keep it. When you give your life to Jesus you are saying that you want him to be the lord of your life. And that means letting him decide what you should keep and get rid of. There are some things that we keep in our hearts that seem very important to us, maybe it’s a grudge or a secret sin or even just the idea that you want to be in charge of your own life. But when you give your life to Jesus, you give him your everything.
Bible Verses About Giving It All to Jesus:
- Ephesians 2:12 | Living without the Bible is painful.
- Psalm 119:11 | Read the Bible and obey what God says.
- Matthew 7:13-14 | Living a good life is not always easy.
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 | Learning the Bible equips us to do good things.
Family Time Questions About Giving It All to Jesus:
• Why is giving your life to Jesus so important?
• What does it mean to say that Jesus is “Lord”?
• Why is it hard to let Jesus decide for us what’s important and what’s not important?
• Will Jesus ask you to get rid of anything that is worth keeping?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die for my sins. Help me to honor you with my life and to give you my everything. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
