Misunderstanding God’s forgiveness and grace towards us can cause serious problems. People often assume that God weighs our good actions against our bad actions, as though God will only forgive our sins if they don’t outweigh our righteousness. But it doesn’t work like that at all. Forgiveness of sins is a gift of grace, it can never be earned or deserved. It’s only through Christ’s righteousness (not our own) and His sacrifice that we can be justified before God. When we realize that God’s forgiveness and grace are offered freely, it can help not only our relationship with God but also with those we need to forgive ourselves. Thanks be to God for His incredible gift of salvation!
Bible Verses:
- Romans 5:1-2 – Forgiveness and grace through faith
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – Grace is a gift
- Romans 11:6 – Grace can’t be earned
- Ephesians 4:32 – Forgive as Christ forgave you
Family Time Questions:
- Who deserves God’s forgiveness?
- When should we forgive people who wrong us?
- Who did Jesus die for?
- How can you have eternal life?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for Your forgiveness and grace. Please help us to remember what You’ve done for us, and why. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
