Right and wrong are determined by God, not people. That’s why we should follow God instead of following the crowd. There may be many times when everyone around you is doing what is right, but the fact that everyone around you does something or believes something doesn’t make it right. Only God decides what’s right. And we can know what’s right and wrong by reading the Bible, which is God’s Word.
The truth is, it’s a lot easier to just go along with what everyone else is saying and doing instead of trying to find out what God wants. But it’s super important to learn what God wants us to do! And, when we read our Bibles, we need to make sure that we are reading to learn what’s right, not just to prove that we’re right. Many people will try to change Scripture to fit their lives, instead of changing their lives to fit Scripture. It can be really hard to know who’s right and who’s wrong, especially when people are divided on an issue. Not everyone can be right, but God can’t be wrong!

Bible Verses About Following God:

  • Exodus 23:2 | Don’t follow the crowd in doing wrong.
  • Acts 5:29 | Obey God before people.
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 | Obey God in ALL your ways.
  • 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 | The Bible teaches us what is true.
  • Psalm 119:105 | The Bible shows us the way like a lamp.

Family Time Questions About Following God:

  • Why do people like to follow the crowd?
  • Is it always wrong to follow the crowd?
  • Why is it so important to read our Bibles?
  • Who is never wrong?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for teaching us what’s right and what’s wrong. Help us to read our Bibles and follow you instead of just following the crowd. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
