It’s incredibly important that we don’t twist God’s words. He has given us His word in Scripture, and His word is perfect, but if we aren’t careful, we can twist it into saying something it was never meant to say. The instructions He gives us in Scripture are for our good, yet it can be so tempting to try to make it sound like God supports (or even commands) our sinful behavior. We should never “put words in God’s mouth.” Don’t twist God’s words.
Bible Verses:
- Proverbs 30:5-6 – Don’t add to God’s words
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – The Bible is God-breathed
- 2 Peter 3:15-16 – People twist Scripture to their own destruction
- Matthew 12:36-37 – An account for every word spoken
- 2 Corinthians 4:2 – Refuse to tamper with God’s word
Family Time Questions:
- Are God’s words true?
- Where can we find God’s words?
- Is it possible to twist God’s words into something false?
- Why is it so important not to twist God’s words?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for giving us Your word. Please help us to never try to put words in Your mouth by twisting Scripture. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
