God has called us to be overcomers, but it can be very hard to not choose to fall into a victim mentality. Many have had to deal with serious hardships in their lives, some merely pretend to have problems (or cause problems for themselves) to get out of responsibility. But no matter who you are or what you have to deal with, there is no excuse for not living the life that God has called you to. Satan wants you to give up, God wants you to be strong and courageous. Our flesh wants us to look for reasons why we’ll fail, God wants us to look for ways that we can succeed. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. And certainly don’t go looking for excuses. Be an overcomer, don’t be a victim.

Bible Verses:

  • 1 Corinthians 16:13 – Stand firm and be strong.
  • Revelation 2:7 – Be the one who overcomes
  • Ephesians 2:10 – God has work for you
  • Philippians 4:13 – Strength through Christ.
  • Romans 8:37 – More than conquerors.

Family Time Questions:

  • What does it mean to be an overcomer?
  • Why does satan want you to think that you are a victim?
  • Are genuine victims excused from being overcomers?
  • Why is it easy to fall into a victim mentality?

Prayer:

“Dear God, please help us to reject the victim mentality and choose to be overcomers. Help us not to look for excuses, but to find our strength in You. Thank You for always being there for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
