There are a lot of people arguing about whether we should say that Black People are important or just say that All People are important. But why not both? The Bible says that we are all the same, but it also says that we are all different! We all have the same value but we all have different experiences, hardships, gifts, and perspectives. Let’s do our best to come together and support each other and learn from one another!

As Christians, we are all a part of the body of Christ. The Bible says that within the body of Christ we are all different and important. We need to respect and take care of the different parts of the body of Christ just like we need to take care of the different parts of our own bodies. If I said that you should brush your teeth, it would be silly for someone to say, “Douglas, why are you talking so much about your teeth? Just say, ‘Take care of your body because your teeth are a part of your body!” Treating every group of people as being exactly the same (ignoring each other’s individual struggles, gifts, and perspectives) is like washing your teeth the same way you wash your hands! We are all the same in our value and our need for Christ, and we are all different and unique. Let’s build each other up and come together in Christian unity instead of letting Satan tear us apart.

“Different and the Same” Bible Verses:

  • Titus 3:9 | Watch out for divisions in the church.
  • Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 | We are stronger together.
  • Genesis 1:27 | We are all made in God’s image.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-19 | As Christians, we are all important parts of the church body.
  • Galatians 3:28 | And we are all the same in Jesus!

Different and the Same” Family Time Questions:

Why does Satan want us to be divided?

What are some ways that we are all the same?

What are some ways that we are all different?

Who matters to God?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for making us all different and for loving us all the same. Help me to do my part to better understand those who are different from me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
