Bullying is a pretty complicated issue. If you’re being bullied, how you should respond largely depends on your specific situation. But no matter what your situation is, there are a few things that you should do:
- Pray for them. God has called us to pray for our enemies.
- Don’t let them convince you that you don’t matter. God loves you very much, you are incredibly important to Him, and you deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.
- Don’t forget that they matter too. God loves you very much, and though He hates what bullies do, they are still His and He loves them very much.
Bullying is wrong. It is never ok to physically or emotionally hurt other people just to make yourself feel better. We need to treat others, even bullies, the way we want to be treated.
Bible Verses:
- Luke 6:27-28 – Love and pray for your enemies.
- 1 Peter 3:9 – Repay evil with blessing.
- Psalm 139:14 – You are wonderfully made.
- Romans 12:21 – Overcome evil with good.
- Matthew 7:12 – Treat others how you want to be treated
Family Time Questions:
- What does Jesus teach us about how to treat those who are unkind to us?
- Why is it important to pray for those who bully us?
- How can remembering that God loves you help when you feel bullied?
- Why should we remember that bullies are loved by God too?
Prayer:
“Dear God, please help us to respond to bullying according to your will. Teach us to pray for those who are unkind and remember that we are all loved by You. Give us the courage to stand up for ourselves and others, treating everyone with the kindness we wish to receive ourselves. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
