The birth of Jesus Christ fulfilled SO MANY prophecies. On Christmas, we celebrate the coming of the promised Messiah. God spoke to the prophets in the Old Testament, long before Jesus was born, about the coming Savior. Many of these predictions were about his birth and early life. And Jesus’ birth fulfilled all of these prophecies (Including some that could only be miracles!). Here are just some of the prophecies about the Messiah that were fulfilled by Jesus’ Birth:

• Born in Bethlehem – Micah 5:2
• Born of a virgin – Isaiah 7:14
• Descendant of Abraham – Genesis 12:3, 22:18
• Descendant of Isaac – Genesis 17:9, 21:12
• Descendant of Jacob – Numbers 24:17
• Descendant of David – Jeremiah 23:5-6
• From the tribe of Judah – Genesis 49:10
• Called “Immanuel” (God with us) – Isaiah 7:14
• Children Killed in Bethlehem – Jeremiah 31:15
• God’s Son called out of Egypt – Hosea 11:1
• Called a Nazarene (a “Nobody”) – Isaiah 53:3, Zechariah 11:4–14 (See also: John 1:46).

Bible Verses About Christmas Prophecies:

  • Matthew 1:18-25 | The angel tells of Jesus’ coming birth.
  • Luke 2:1-7 | Joseph and Mary travel to Bethlehem and Jesus is born.
  • Matthew 2:1-12 | The wise men come to see Jesus.
  • Matthew 2:13-23 | His parents take Jesus to Egypt, then Nazareth.
  • John 3:16 | God sent Jesus as the best gift ever!

Family Time Questions About Christmas Prophecies:

Why can it be hard to share the Gospel sometimes?

Do you think the shepherds were worried about sharing the good news?

What can we tell people about Jesus this Christmas season?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Thank you for proving that He is the Messiah by fulfilling all these prophecies.
