Christmas gifts remind us of the greatest gift of all! Let’s never forget that Christmas is about God sending his Son Jesus to save us from our sins.
Christmas gifts are great. If you were to ask any kid on the street what their favorite part of Christmas was, they would probably say, “Presents!” But Christmas is about so much more than gifts. We need to be careful to not let anything come between us and Jesus this Christmas season, and, if we’re not careful, presents can do exactly that. But just because gifts can come between us and Jesus (by being the most important thing to us this Christmas season) that doesn’t mean that they have to. In fact, both giving and getting presents on Christmas can actually help us to remember the most important gift ever, the Gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ! Instead of making presents the most important part of Christmas, let’s let them remind us of the most important part of Christ, Jesus’ birth.
“Christmas Gifts” Bible Verses:
• Luke 1:26-38 | Mary told about Jesus’ birth
• Matthew 1:18-24 | Joseph told about Jesus’ birth
• Luke 2:1-21 | The birth of Jesus
• Matthew 2:1-12 | The wise men
• 2 Corinthians 9:15 | “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
“Christmas Gifts” Family Time Questions:
- How can presents come between us and Jesus?
- Are Christmas gifts bad?
- How can Christmas gifts remind us of what’s most important this Christmas season?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for the Gift of your Son, Jesus. Help me to remember what the Christmas season is all about. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
