Everyone wants to feel important, but tearing other people down is a terrible way to live. God wants us to honor others more than ourselves and build others up! If you put one crab in a bucket, it will just climb out, but if you put several crabs in the same bucket they will pull each other back into the bucket if it looks like one of them will get out. People are a lot like that too. Sometimes it feels like we need to put other people down in order to lift ourselves up. But God says that if we want to be lifted up, we should lift up others.
Bible Verses About Building Others Up:
- Romans 12:10 | Honor others more than yourselves
- Philippians 2:3-4 | Value others above yourselves
- James 4:6 | God opposes the proud
- Luke 14:7-11 | Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted
Family Time Questions About Building Others Up:
• What does it mean to honor others more than ourselves?
• Who benefits when we build others up instead of tearing them down?
• Why is it so easy to tear people down?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for taking such good care of me. Please help me to lift others up instead of tearing them down. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
