To translate something means to take what you are hearing or reading in one language and then say or write that same thing in another language. People have been faithfully working hard to translate Scripture into other languages for thousands of years. Did you know that the Bible was originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek? Most people can’t speak those languages, so it is an incredible blessing to have the Bible translated for us so we can hear God’s word in our own language!
Bible Verses:
- Romans 10:13-17 – How will they believe if they don’t hear?
- Matthew 28:18-20 – Make disciples of all nations
- Mark 16:15 – Proclaim the gospel to the whole creation
- Psalm 119:105 – God’s word is a lamp to our feet
Family Time Questions:
- What does it mean to translate the Bible?
- Why is Bible translation so important?
- Why do we need to be especially careful about certain Bible translations?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for giving us your word. And thank You for those who have faithfully translated the Bible so the world can know you better. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
