God loves the animals and He has given us the responsibility of taking care of them. Animals are not made in God’s image like humans are, but that doesn’t mean they don’t matter. There isn’t a sparrow, bug, fish, mouse, whale, or any other creature that God doesn’t know and love. Jesus told people not to worry because, if God doesn’t even forget any of the sparrows He will surely take care of you who are worth many sparrows. It’s not that you kind of matter to God and animals don’t matter, it’s that God loves the animals very much and He loves you very very very much! Let’s take the responsibility that God has given us seriously and be kind to animals.

Bible Verses:

  • Genesis 1:28 – In charge of the animals
  • Luke 12:6-7 – God doesn’t forget the animals
  • Proverbs 12:10 – The righteous man takes care of his animals
  • Jonah 4:11 – God cares about the animals too
  • Genesis 9:9-10 – God’s covenant with humans and animals

Family Time Questions:

  • Why does God want us to be kind to animals?
  • What does it mean to have dominion over animals according to Genesis?
  • How does Jesus’ teaching about sparrows show God’s care?
  • Can you think of ways we can take better care of animals?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for all the wonderful animals You created. Help us to take good care of them just like You care for us. Teach us to be kind and gentle to all living things because they are all part of Your beautiful creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
