To persevere means to keep going even when things get hard. It can also mean to be patient and endure hardship. It’s easy not to be annoyed by the sound of dripping water if it’s just one drop. But when the dripping is constant, it’s much more difficult. In the same way, learning more about God, doing as He says, and having self-control is pretty easy to do once. Knowing what’s right and doing it is one thing, but to keep doing it is where things get really hard. We need to believe in Jesus Christ; that’s the only way to heaven, but if we want to take advantage of all that God has for us here and now, we also need to make sure that we add to our faith perseverance.
Bible Verses:
- 2 Peter 1:3-11 – Add to your faith
- James 1:12 – Blessed for remaining steadfast
- Galatians 6:9 – Don’t grow weary in doing good
- Hebrews 10:36 – You need endurance
Family Time Questions:
- Does perseverance get you into heaven?
- What happens when we don’t persevere?
- What happens when we do persevere?
- What should we do when we mess up?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for being with us every step of the way. Please help us to keep at it when things get difficult. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
